The annual gathering of the MAFVA clubs was held over the weekend of the 14-15th of June at Duxford. This was in conjunction with the vehicle show
The set up took place on the Saturday and the show on the Sunday and I travelled along to display with Leamington Spa MAFVA club on the Sunday. For me it was a 2 hour drive from Birmingham along the dreaded A14.Luckily this time it was fairly quiet and I arrived at 8 a.m
The venue itself is Duxford as mentioned and home to the American Air Museum hanger a mecca for anyone interested in historic aviation. The MAFVA show was housed in a huge marquee adjacent to the American hanger.I was most impressed by the slick operation on arrival, far better than the fiasco of entry into the IPMS Scale Model Show.
Once in and set up,it was time for a cup of tea.Again I was impressed by how nice the lady was who served my wife,a donation was all that was needed for the tea.Sorry I did not get your name if you read this, but my thanks have been passed onto Jon Ham.
Tea drunk it was time for a wander around. This was my first visit to the show and I was mighty impressed by the clubs and traders attending.A full list of clubs and traders can be found on the MAFVA web site.
For me I was very impressed by the smaller scale A.F.V's the detail on some was outstanding to say the least.
On to the competition a total of 25 classes were available to enter 1-20 being adult and the others being junior. The area was very well laid out with each class well labelled.I have photographed a lot of images below.
Traders wise MMS had some great kits in the smaller scales and at a good price to.Our Gods aka Accutate Armour were there. One day I will get around my wife to get one of their kits.
I made some nice purchases at the show including a Skoda RSO from Riich for £38 "Bargain"
Would I go again.Wild horses will not stop me.A very friendly show with none of the red tape.
My thanks goes to my friend Jon Ham,Gary Wenko and team for a great day out.
