Annual Show 2014 Aug 10 The IPMS Avon annual model show, now in its 24th year is being held on Sunday 10th August 2014.
The show will again be held at the Thornbury leisure centre just north of Bristol, where there is over 1,500m2 of floor space in two large halls and ample free parking.
For the first time last year, IPMS Avon in conjunction with Lincombe Barn Wargames Society held a combined plastic modelling and war gaming show. The show was a huge success with modellers and gamers enjoying each other’s company and benefitting from the greater variety of traders that the show attracted.

This year IPMS Avon is again teaming up with Lincombe Barn Wargames Society to host a combined modelling and war gaming show, the only one of its kind in the South West.

AVON MODEL SHOW REPORT
It was an early start Sunday to attend the Avon show now based in Thornbury near Bristol. Having picked up my fellow Modeller from the Erdington area, it was off down the M5. This was a true adventure in its self. The driving rain certainly kept me on my toes and the anti skid warning light was a clear indicator to keep the speed down. Luckily being a rally driver helped.
I arrived around 0830 and off loaded. My plan had been to display with 580, but this was not to be due to matters beyond my control. So I was kindly offered a place with Birmingham IPMS to whom I am very thankful.
This show added extra spice for me as I had invited a new friend to me in the form of Ladislav Hancar. I had met him through social media and we had agreed for him to bring his F104G in 1/32. This model is a work in progress and is a wonder to behold. Ladislav arrived not long after me and placed his F104G on display and straight away the model attracted a lot of attention. I would like to say a big thank you to Ladislav for bringing this model to Avon.
Clubs wise, there were many clubs from all over the UK and the list is above for you to see.
Traders.
These were place around the outside and were doing sterling work all day long. For me Antics had some of the best deals of the day. I purchased a Takom Mexas Leopard for £35 and I then went to Phil Mitchell of Mainly Military for a Tiger Armoured Car for £27 minus my discount at mates rates.
Competition.
A couple of names to mention here are Ladislav Hancar and Rob Cookson. Well done both
